Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2017

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 is due to be repealed on 1st September 2017.

The Regulation sets technical and administrative standards for land and mining surveys in NSW. It ensures:

  • competent surveyors provide the public with professional survey services; and
  • the maintenance and on-going development of the State control survey and State cadastre, which provide a reliable and accurate spatial referencing system underpinning titling, surveying, spatial information and mapping systems in NSW.

DFSI Spatial Services is inviting comments on the draft Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2017 and the accompanying Regulatory Impact Statement. A link to download both documents as a compressed (zip) file is provided below.

Questionnaire

During the consultation process and presentations to the various surveyor groups a questionnaire was made available to determine the issues and/or problems encountered by practicing surveyors. The same questionnaire was used for each group to get a consistent summary of issues and problems from each group. To date (19th May 2017) two hundred and twenty eight (228) industry respondents have completed the questionnaire. It is anticipated that more respondents will complete the questionnaire before submission of the proposed Regulation for approval.

To complete the online questionnaire, if you have not already done so, go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SSIR2017

The questionnaire will be open until 11:45pm on Friday 21st July 2017.
